1 2Android LNotifications Sample Sample 3=================================== 4 5This sample demonstrates new features for notifications introduced in Android L. 6These features include heads-up notifications, visibility, people, category and priority 7metadata. 8 9Introduction 10------------ 11 12Android 5.0 (Lollipop, API level 21) introduced additional features to the Notification API. 13Specifically, it allows developers to specify the priority and visibility level for 14notifications. This metadata allows the system to provide enhanced security for notifications 15while the lock screen is active, allows high-priority notifications to appear even when 16the notification bar is closed, and provides users to silence low-priority notifications 17when they're busy. 18 19This metadata is provided via additional arguments to the `Notification.Builder` class. 20 21Specifically, this sample demonstrates how to generate a heads-up notification 22(`HeadsUpNotificationFragment`), how to control visibility on the lock screen 23(`VisibilityMetadataFragment`), and how to set the category, priority, and associated contact 24for a notification (`OtherMetadataFragment`). 25 26Pre-requisites 27-------------- 28 29- Android SDK 27 30- Android Build Tools v27.0.2 31- Android Support Repository 32 33Screenshots 34------------- 35 36<img src="screenshots/1-headsup.png" height="400" alt="Screenshot"/> <img src="screenshots/2-visibility.png" height="400" alt="Screenshot"/> <img src="screenshots/3-others.png" height="400" alt="Screenshot"/> 37 38Getting Started 39--------------- 40 41This sample uses the Gradle build system.
